Research Process

The detail of the research process is dependant on the type of organisation, product, service or specific research aim of the client. These are the six main stages of the research process which are generally applied to a range of research requirements.

     1) Ascertain and identify the problem research is

     commissioned to address

     2) Review and scope existing literature or market

     3) Design research framework

     4) Implementation of research activities

     5) Analysis and interpretation

     6) Research conclusion and recommendations

Examples of Market Research Project Design

The aim of this small scale piece of research was to create a profile of the logistics market where there was a component of mobile data technology involved in the transportation and delivery of goods. Carrying out desk based open source research enabled identification of the scale of the useage of this technology in the field of logistics which enabled new customers to be identified.

New Customer identification

Review of open source desk based market sector business information sources. Creation of Microsoft Office level lead management database and implementation of tele-sales first contact call to generation leads for account management operation. 

Measurement of post-product implementation support service

Development of customer satisfaction service surveys or service user experience involved designing schedules that collected both telephone and quantitative data. Interpretation and presentation of the strengths and weakness identified was produced.

 

Government policy 

Qualitative in-depth study to deepen understanding of specific service user groups involved working with a small number of service users and completing four narrative style interviews. Storage and coding of data in IT application and completion of analysis and interpretation.
